When it comes to radar, many people know it can “detect targets,” but may not understand the differences between over-the-horizon radar, microwave radar, millimeter-wave radar, ultrasonic sensing, and LiDAR.

Although they all detect objects, their principles, capabilities, and applications are quite different.

The basic principle is similar:

transmit a signal → receive the return → calculate target information. The type of signal determines the system’s performance and application.

1.Over-the-Horizon Radar

Uses short-wave electromagnetic waves to detect targets beyond the horizon, with ranges reaching thousands of kilometers.

Key features: Extremely long range, large size, high cost.

Applications: Strategic early warning and long-range target monitoring.

2.Microwave Radar

Uses electromagnetic waves to achieve a good balance of detection range, accuracy, and reliability.

Key features: All-weather operation, stable performance, and strong environmental adaptability.

Applications: Air traffic control, weather monitoring, maritime navigation, and air defense surveillance.

3. Millimeter-Wave Radar

Uses shorter electromagnetic wavelengths to provide high-resolution detection of distance and speed.

Key features: Compact, high resolution, and less affected by lighting conditions.

Applications: Autonomous driving, blind-spot detection, adaptive cruise control, security, and smart devices.

4. Ultrasonic Sensing

Uses reflected sound waves to measure distance. It is simple, low-cost, and mainly designed for short-range detection.

Key features: Short range, low cost, and suitable for close-range obstacle detection.

Applications: Parking sensors, reverse assistance, and small-device obstacle avoidance.

5. LiDAR

Emits laser beams and calculates distance from the return time, generating detailed 3D point clouds.

Key features: High precision and strong 3D mapping capability.

Applications: Mapping, robotics, autonomous driving, drone navigation, and 3D scanning.

YFR-03: Low-Altitude Security Intelligent Detection System

1. Advanced Radar Technology

Equipped with DBF (Digital Beamforming) and mechanical scanning, YFR-03 enables precise detection, rapid localization, and stable tracking of low-altitude targets.

2. Long-Range Detection

With a detection range of 6–100 km, depending on target RCS and operating conditions, YFR-03 is suitable for critical area protection, counter-drone operations, and border security.

3. Multi-Target Tracking

Supporting target velocities from 1–100 m/s, the system can simultaneously detect and track multiple low-altitude targets, including drones and other LSS targets.

4. X-Band & Ku-Band Options

The X-band provides balanced detection range and environmental adaptability, while the Ku-band offers higher angular resolution for precise detection and tracking of small targets.

Reliable Detection for Low-Altitude Security

YFR-03 combines microwave radar, DBF, mechanical scanning, and multi-target tracking to provide reliable situational awareness for low-altitude security applications.
